Wie ein kleines Kind freue ich mich jedes Mal, wenn ich höre, dass Bob Dylan ein neues Album veröffentlichen wird. Dieses Mal wird es am 27. August so weit sein. Wir Fans bekommen die zehnte Ausgabe der Bootleg Serie zu hören. Und für dieses kleine Jubiläum hat sich Schlizohr Bob etwas besonderes einfallen lassen: Another Self Portrait

Es handelt sich um Outtakes und Demos aus der Country- und Schlagerzeit des Meisters. Als 1970 das ein Doppelalbum Self Portrait auf den Markt kam, fiel es bei Fans und Kritikern komplett durch. Was sollte dieses Zeug? Abgedroschene Schlager von Dylan. Das wollten seine Fans nicht hören.

Erst Jahre später erkannte man wie wichtig dieses Album war. Es zeigte den Übergang vom Protest zu Kommerz, der sich in der Rock- und Popwelt vollzog. Der Individualismus wurde aufgegeben und der Mainstream eroberte sich seinen Platz.

Mit der Veröffentlichung von Another Self Portrait wird diese Diskussion wieder aufflammen. Noch heute ist auf Self Portrait eines der ungeliebten Dylan-Alben. Mal sehen, was die Bootleg Serie jetzt bringt.

Schade, dass nicht alle Songs, die Dylan gemeinsam mit George Harrison aufgenommen hat, jetzt veröffentlicht werden. Es gab wunderbare Nashville-Sessions, die illegal die Runde machen. Was mich aber besonders reizt, ist eine frühe Demo des Meisterwerks When I Paint My Masterpiece. Zudem wird endlich das Konzert von Bob Dylan & the Band auf der Isle of Wight vom 31. August 1969 komplett legal veröffentlicht. Hoffentlich wurde der Sound gegenüber den Bootlegs überarbeitet. Das Album enthält Songs aus der Ära Nashville Skyline, Self Portrait und New Morning. Am 27. August wissen wir mehr, das Album wird in zwei Versionen erscheinen. Als Doppel-CD Another Self Portrait 1969-1971: Bootleg Series 10 und als vierfach CD Another Self Portrait 1969-1971: Bootleg Series 10– ach ja eine Vinyl-Ausgabe Another Self Portrait 1969-1971: Bootleg Series 10 [Vinyl LP] gibt es auch. Übrigens, wenn ich mir etwas wünschten dürfte, dann die kompletten The Basement Tapes in hörbarer Aufmachung.
